Integration of advanced Graph Analytics into Microsoft Fabric Data Hub
Introduction
Quadrant Technologies, with strong application development and solution integration experience, has collaborated with an industry-leading provider to integrate their advanced Graph Analytics DB into the Microsoft Fabric Data Hub as an extension. This integration ensures that the Graph Analytics functionality aligns with Microsoft Build for private preview and with Microsoft Ignite for general availability. Quadrant is working closely with the Microsoft Fabric product engineering team in an agile manner to ensure code changes are kept in sync with their development roadmap.
Business Challenge:
The challenge was to integrate advanced Graph Analytics with various components of the Microsoft Fabric platform, providing a fully managed cloud database and analytics platform on Microsoft Azure. The goal was to meet customers where they are and enable them to use tools of their choice. With the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem having over 350k customers, the aim was to enable these customers to easily leverage graph technology to solve key business challenges.
Our solution and its Impact:
Quadrant developed a Graph Analytics extension for the Fabric Data Hub, allowing customers to easily leverage graph technology to address key business challenges. The solution included creating a Graph Analytics extension within the Fabric Data Hub, developing a user interface using ReactJS, and gaining a deep understanding of the Microsoft Fabric Extension GitHub repository for smooth integration of Fabric APIs. Quadrant performed data ingestion to OneLake and enabled users to select multiple workloads, authenticate to the Graph Analytics DB, and send them through OneLake APIs to Graph APIs to render graph representations. The graph representations are rendered using the Bloom API within an IFrame, integrated into the Fabric User Experience. Future phases include implementing graph ML models and mirroring, as well as integrating Fabric Real-time analytics to monitor and troubleshoot the extension's performance.
In partnership with Microsoft, Quadrant delivered a comprehensive migration solution, transitioning client’s infrastructure from on-premises to Azure.
Technologies Used:
The solution leveraged several technologies:
● Advanced Graph Analytics DB
● Microsoft Fabric Data Hub
● Microsoft Azure
● ReactJS for the user interface
● Fabric APIs
● OneLake APIs
● Bloom API for graph representation
Conclusion
The integration of advanced Graph Analytics with the Microsoft Fabric Data Hub enables Microsoft Fabric customers to generate graph representations of their datasets within OneLake using Graph Analytics. This expansion allows a wide range of global customers to access key data sources from Microsoft Fabric, transforming them into automatically generated graph models for exploration and analysis. The business impact is significant, as the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem's 350k+ customers can now leverage graph technology to solve key business challenges, develop next-generation AI applications, and enhance usability.
